INDE’s AR Brought Junior de Barranquilla Fans Up Close and Personal With Their Favourite Football Stars

The current champions of Colombia's Categoria Primera A, Junior de Barranquilla - formerly known as Atlético Junior - is ready to defend its title in the finals. To add to the frenzy of excitement already felt by their fans they engaged Augmented Reality company INDE onboard to build a unique, personalised fan experience. Their latest AR-powered HeroMirror photo booth doesn't just empower fans to meet with their favourite players, but also allowing them to spread the word about the upcoming tournament.
After the fans trigger the HeroMirror through its motion sensors, they have to pick their favourite Junior de Barranquilla star - Sebastian Hernandez, Jose Luis Chunga, Teofilo Guitierrez, Matias Fernandez, Victor Cantillo or Sebastian Viera - to pose with. In case they can't pick just one athlete - and most of them can't - they can take a group photo with all of them simultaneously. After the system captures the encounter, they can share it instantly with their friends and family.
INDE has deployed three kiosk-sized experiences: all will be permanently available in Junior de Barranquilla's Monumento Ventana al Mundo stadium, and two local shopping centres - Centro Comercial Portal Del Prado, and Centro Comercial Buenavista.
Placing the fans into the centre of the team narrative with cutting-edge technologies like Augmented Reality is a great way to cultivate loyalty and build a reciprocal relationship with them. This isn't the first time INDE has brought sports fans “up close and personal” with their favourite athletes with the power of Augmented Reality, as they have already created fan-centric campaigns for the NFL, Adidas Tango League, and Premier League team Arsenal FC.
