INDE creates products and experiences that inspire, entertain, inform and educate using Augmented Reality and Computer Vision.

Since 2011 we have developed location-based and mobile products and experiences in over 50 countries for the world’s leading entertainment and education brands.

Companies and institutions such as Disney, Amex, Visa, Coca-Cola, Warner Brothers, 7-Eleven, Smithsonian, the BBC and more have enlisted INDE to build their AR futures.

Our History

👨‍🚀 In the beginning - 2011

3 people, one room, and a bit of a brainwave. Our co-founders, and current CEO, brainstorm an idea with the team to allow people to visualise artwork on their wall prior to purchase. In research the team come across marker-based AR video from Japan and decide to pursue Augmented Reality development.

🦖 Dinosaurs & Big Screens - 2012

After 12 months of development INDE creates the BroadcastAR platform. The system is built and deployed for National Geographic in Central Europe. The system’s release triggers a deluge of requests for similar systems. Nat Geo BroadcastAR system wins “Best Augmented Reality Campaign”.

🌎 Global travel & 3D modelling - 2013

Enquiries about BroadcastAR existing and new content packs go through the roof. The tiny INDE team begins hardware, software and 3D content development arms to cope with the influx. Teams are deployed to 20+ countries in 12 months to install systems.

🌟 Maturity & diversification - 2014

An initial wave of interest in AR leads to product development on big screen and mobile at the same time. INDE launches projects with BBC, Smithsonian, 20th Century Fox and more. Simultaneous location launches in multiple continents become the norm. INDE becomes an augmented reality licensing company overnight. Smithsonian & Nat Geo appoint INDE as a distribution agent for AR content worldwide.

🛫 Jetlag & expansion - 2015

INDE moves to permanent installs on every continent with over 150 BroadcastAR installs worldwide. HeroMirror, a kiosk version of BroadcastAR is launched, LiveAvatar is launched as a standalone product. The team now comprises of 20+.

🚀 Jetlag & expansion Pt.2 - 2016

INDE continues to focus on the North American market, placing permanent representation in Los Angeles and opening to opportunities in US retail sector. INDE chosen to represent UK’s greatest exporters at GREATFest Shanghai showcasing the best of China.

💡 Smart shops & all seeing eyes - 2017

INDE launches Vyu, a dedicated focus on the use of augmented reality and computer vision for retail. HeroMirror 2 is launched, BroadcastAR Interactive is launched.

🏈 Platforms, pilots - 2018

INDE focuses on product and platform development using Augmented Reality. INDE now offers 4+ platforms for AR experience, totals 200+ installs worldwide. Vyu begins commercial deployment. Product launches range from Pizza Hut, Adidas, Warner Brothers and more in just 12 months worldwide.

⚡️ Bitesize, sport - 2019

INDE expands operations in North America, launching products for Visa North America and many more. HeroMirror takes off as a go-to fan experience platform in US sport. INDE announces national AR media space network with Brookfield/GGP. Expands into Latin America with BroadcastAR and HeroMirror products.

🕺 Lockdown with Elvis - 2020

Well, we all know how much fun this has been… Despite the awfulness of the Covid-19 Pandemic, INDE continues to rollout new developments. Our launch at the Tokyo Olympics is completed but postponed. We launch multiple HeroMirrors for Elvis’ Graceland Museum Complex. INDE begins product development work on full digital clothing try-on tool for home and in-store. To be continued…

⚽ Stadium and Store. The experience is back - 2021

Sports teams, event venues and brands worldwide invest in the safe return of their Fans and Customers… so INDE’s 2021 kicks off with HeroMirror and BroadcastAR deployments for Major League teams, including the New York Red Bulls. More projects follow for leading brands including Novant Health, Celebrity Cruises and Brookfield Properties.

🤓 All brands need an AR Playbook - 2022

As AR and Mixed Reality become "must-haves" in the toolbox of leading organisations, INDE’s consultative approach is a key differentiator. An increasing array of business leaders increasingly recognise that they need a strong AR partner and playbook to bring brilliant concepts to life.  Our strong start to the year is marked by cutting edge, core business-related projects and developments for global companies.

The challenges of building an international business are considerable, but, for the better part of a decade, INDE’s ever-expanding client base has necessitated global engagement to better maintain a competitive edge, and our success has relied on our keen awareness of national, regional, and local expectations to ensure seamless integration of our projects. 

But it also inspires the very cultural fabric of our company.

Of course, INDE has always been “ahead of the curve,” so to speak, carving out a niche in a marketplace at a time when prospective audiences were still wide-eyed at the concept of extended reality technologies. Our leadership valued flexibility above all, and sought to populate the workforce by “hiring people,” not “filling positions.”

Since our inception, teams at INDE have negotiated, developed, and deployed products in almost 50 countries, alongside hundreds of culturally-diverse brands and companies—because we are a culturally-diverse company. To this day, INDE remains one of the most gender-diverse and multinational organisations in the industry, with offices in three different countries, team members from dozens more, and via our growing network of international partnerships, associates hailing from hundreds. 

Although we have British “DNA”, we have strong international roots. But we hope the evolution of our “lineage” will be more defined by the merits of our method for our success. 

Our awareness, flexibility and our need for inclusion are what informs us. It really is the only way for a company to survive… And thrive.
