Europe’s Largest Shopping Center Developer, ECE Brings INDE’s AR Show in Italy

Arctic Explorer, INDE’s BroadcastAR experience debuts in Italy, with an impressive large-screen Augmented Reality installation at Adigeo, an ECE shopping centre located in Verona.
Originally developed for the BBC, Arctic Explorer will take Adigeo shoppers on a breathtaking journey to the freezing Arctic wilds. Launched on June 8, the 3-week BroadcastAR installation will be immersing people in a photo-realistic 3D environment, placing them up against a polar bear, getting-them up-close and personal with orcas, and allowing them to pet penguins and seals. The AR system automatically generates snapshots of these special encounters, which allows people to share their most memorable moments online with just a few clicks.
“When we realised the power of augmented reality back in 2010 there was still a huge distance to travel to allow an app-free experience everyone could enjoy. BroadcastAR was built to bridge that gap and allow collective experience with any action on part of the visitor. It still evolves today to bring engagement and information to people from Guatemala to Singapore,” said Alex Poulson, INDE’s CEO.
Hamburg-based ECE has been developing, building, leasing out, and managing large commercial properties since 1965. The company is a European market leader in the field of inner-city shopping centers, with approx. 200 malls managed in 12 countries.
As an increasing number of institutions and companies in education and entertainment are looking at innovative ways to provide unforgettable experiences to their audiences, Augmented Reality has become one of the most sought-after technologies today, due to its ability to engage, educate and entertain in a unique way.
