The GREAT Festival of Innovation, held in Hong Kong (March 21-24) showcased how British and Asian companies drive innovations that will shape the way we learn, live, work and play in the future.
As part of the festival activity, the UK Department for International Trade (DIT) ran the inaugural GREAT Innovation in Action Awards to celebrate trade projects between UK and Asian companies – where an innovative collaboration has led to an exceptional result.
The winners, chosen by select members of the international business community, were confirmed and announced via a press release from Dr Liam Fox, the Secretary of State for International Trade, on Monday April 9.
UK Augmented Reality company INDE, winner in the “Learn” category of the Awards, was shortlisted with their custom-developed AR experience installed at the AIA Carnival in Hong Kong in December 2017. The giant AR screen provided kids an unparalleled immersive experience, placing them side by side with some fascinating extinct creatures, such as life-sized 3D mammoths and dinosaurs.
“The educational potential of taking these animals off the pages of textbooks and into an augmented world around the children themselves.” was highlighted by DIT in the nomination, referring to the project as “Augmenting Learning”.
