MobileAR Application for iOS and Android for the University of Michigan
Overview
We created a MobileAR application called MGoView for iOS and Android devices that provides an interactive view through the rich history of the famed University of Michigan.
The challenge
University of Michigan wanted to build a mobile-based augmented reality experience to commemorate their 200th anniversary. By utilising this immersive digital capability they were able to delight and inform their university community while exhibiting keen foresight for the future and showcasing a command of the disciplines they’ve become known for.

Journey
With MGoView, users experience the last 200 years of University of Michigan’s history through photo, video, and audio presentations, along with 3D animation exhibits created in house here at INDE. Engage with dozens of unique, authentic historical artefacts from the university archives rendered digitally before your eyes, and visit numerous significant landmarks or take photos with famous settings and individuals.
To ensure reliable navigation, the application includes digital pathways leading users from their current location to each campus site, along with easy-to-follow instructions for interacting with AR content. As more sites are visited and content explored, users collect achievements and unlock badges, earning them an opportunity for a photo with a legendary University of Michigan personality, and also to enter a giveaway and win prizes.
In order to maximise app availability for as many users as possible, web-based exploration is also enabled, allowing anyone to view full 360-degree renderings of famous campus locations from anywhere in the world.
