BroadcastAR Augmented Reality Experience at
Universal Studio Orlando for American Express
Overview
American Express commissioned to create a BroadcastAR experience to feature in their promotional area at Universal Studios, Orlando. Enhanced with a hyper-real soundscape, this experience allowed visitors to get up close and personal with these amazing creatures and re-live the illustrious scenes from the franchise.
3D animation was designed and built by INDE with direct approval from Amblin Studios.
Experience
An utterly lifelike and seamless augmented reality experience that was a featured visitor attraction at the Universal Studio Orlando theme park in Orlando, Florida, this BroadcastAR project brought a T-Rex, and several other extinct beasts, back to roaring life, leaving audiences stunned.
Commissioned by American Express, INDE custom built 3D from the Jurassic Park franchise to recreate digital counterparts of these well-known dinosaurs that appear in custom-designed AR scenarios inspired by the film, itself.
Jaw-droppingly lifelike, audiences watched themselves in awe onscreen as they interacted with a few familiar creatures from the Jurassic Park movies, before encountering INDE’s formidable T-Rex, who tears through the metal fence and stalks off to wreak havoc on all the happy visitors of Universal Studios.
These illustrious reenactments of the famous scenes were further enhanced by a dynamic hyper-realistic soundscape. Despite launching in 2015, this project has seen incredible shelf life, with over 16 million views on YouTube!

User Experience
Users approach the experience’s physical display, take their place on the AR marker, and the “host” manually launches the AR experience while users simply sit back and enjoy, watching as augmented reality takes over their perceived “real” world—or perhaps, more accurately, they cower in fear as a T-Rex breaks out of his containment!
